Palccoyo Rainbow Tour is a short hike to the spectacular rainbow mountains. Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain has colourful rock formations with stunning scenery of the glacial Ausangate Peak. Enjoy the small hike through colourful landscapes with fantastic Instagram photo opportunities. The day will be filled with magic for those that love nature without long walks.
Palccoyo Mountain is around 4800 metres high, opposed to Rainbow Mountain peak which is at 5200 metres.
This Palccoyo Tour will also take a visit to Checacupe bridge, a suspension bridge manufactured by the Quechuas to connect of the Inca Empire.
We will pick you up from your hotel/hostel around 6.30 am. We will head out towards Palccoyo Rainbow Mountain driving through quaint villages and taking in the scenery of the Andes mountain range. Along the way we shall stop and take breakfast, before arriving at the hiking point.
Once we arrive we shall start our small hike through stunning landscapes. After 30 minutes of hiking, we will reach Tres Rainbows where you can enjoy views over the whole region. You will have plenty of freedom to take in nature and take some photos.
Once you have enjoyed your time here we shall head back to the minivan for a short drive for lunch.
We will arrive at Checacupe bridge where you can see the stunning suspension bridge that connects the Inka empire. We’ll then enjoy our buffet lunch and take a little rest before heading back to Cusco.
We were a family of 4 with 2 younger kids of 6 and 8, the Palccoyo rainbow mountain was perfect as I don’t think they would have made the top of Rainbow mountain. This was the perfect alternative tour if you have kids and very easy and doable trekking.
I’m so happy I choose the Palccoyo rainbow mountain tour instead of rainbow mountain, there wasn’t much trekking, only for an hour or so and I still got to see the mountain of colours.palccoyo mountain tour is a must, either this or the peak of the rainbow mountain on the other tour they offer. Palccoyo rainbow mountain was a wowing site, I can’t believe all the colours. I got to see a rainbow mountain without all the hard trekking. The trek was very simple and short, good for anyone that doesn’t like to trek so much. If you want an easy tour then Palccoyo tour will be perfect for you,
The tour was well worth it. The 3 hour drive had plenty of scenery, and the view of the rainbow mountain was beautiful. it is hard to take a picture to show the true beauty. Don’t forget a good coat the temp is no joke!
