At the summit of Rainbow mountain (5,200 m) you will enjoy fresh clean air with magnificent views of the Ausangate Mountain (6,385 m), the highest mountain in the Cusco region.
Whilst hiking Rainbow mountain you may be lucky enough to see herds of alpacas and llamas. It is one of the most beautiful sights seeing the mountain of seven colours with herds of alpacas and llamas running in the background. We will pick you up from your hotel/hostel
Drop off will be around the Plaza de Armas
Rainbow Mountain tours from Cusco depart depending on the location of your hotel/hostel in Cusco but normally around 4am
Beautiful red mountains along the route up to the rainbow mountain, once close to the summit a beaming array of colours. It is not hard to see why this is called the mountain of seven colours.
Hiking up Rainbow Mountain Peru at a fast pace can take around 45 mins, at a normal pace of 2 hours and a slow pace of 2.5 hours. You should expect to hike for around 5 hours in total.
We will begin by picking up passengers from 4 am depending on your location in Cusco. First, we will collect of tour-goers before leaving Cusco.
Once we have collected everyone we shall then start our journey heading out of Cusco. We will travel by minivan for around 2.5 hours in the direction of the South Valley of Cusco
After travelling for about 2,5 hours we shall make a stop for breakfast. We’ll enjoy a simple breakfast to get us set for the hike ahead.
After breakfast, we will get back into the minivan and head to the hiking start point. It will take around another 30 minutes.
After breakfast, we shall drive by minivan for another 35 minutes to reach Rainbow Mountain trekking point.
Once we arrive at the start point your expert guide will give you recommendations before starting the trek.
You are free to hike at your own pace and on average it will take approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes/ 2 hours until you reach the summit of Rainbow Mountain.
Once you have reached the summit we will spend around 45 minutes to take pictures, enjoy the view, count the colours of the mountain, enjoy the pure air and take in the surrounding.
After our time at the summit, we will then head back down to the minivan. We will then take a 30-minute drive to our lunch stop.
After enjoying lunch and taking a well deserved rest we will head back to Cusco and part ways near the Plaza de Armas

Rainbow tour was great, it was a pleasant travel exerince through the Andes to the trekking point. I’m not great at hiking but this was easy do-able at a steady pace. A beautiful mountain that is a must see whilst in Cusco.
